Dave Aftandilian Perfectly captures the hush and mystery of deep alpine snowfall. Ambient drones drift like perfect snowflakes, briefly sharing their icy kiss against your fevered skin, then disappearing to be replaced by others--wave upon wave, rippling constantly toward the Infinite.

Kaptain Carbon Luftschloss (Castle in the air / pipe dream (?) ) is the third release this year and presents two 40 minute (!) tracks of hypnotic magic that robs the listener of any warmth they once possessed. Winterblood may not be the style for everyone but anyone that is looking for a lengthy experience or atmospheric music for a cold winter’s night, I might have the perfect suggestion for you. "The first track ‘Apparition dans la forêt’ (transl. ‘apparition in the woods’) suggests that the canopies are the moonlit nightskies and the wraith appearing an ethereal being, undefined and hypnotic. Feel the translucent layers of ghostly air!

Then, the second track ‘Autre dimension’ (transl. ‘another dimension’) confirms that this mysterious wraith can be the astral boatman to the evoked other dimension. The track structure shows an efficient progression from the canopies to this now reachable castle in the air, where halls are roofless, opened to further journeys." kalteldur.blogspot.com

One of my favorite dungeon synth albums, and I had only heard it a few days ago for the first time. Perfect for drifting off to sleep, but also for driving under the canopy of trees. It is very soft, and pleasant, yet vast at times. The ambient forest sounds are extremely soothing. A wonderful work of art that feels as refreshing as diving into the deeps of a natural, cold spring in the eves of summer. Bjorn
